For this year, our prices are structured as follows:

  • Quarter - $4.00/lb at a hanging weight

Price/Weight Details

Our cattle typically weigh 1300 pounds, when they are ready to be processed. From those pounds, we expect to retain roughly 62.5%, or 812.5 pounds, for a hanging weight. It is by this weight that beef is priced.

1300 lbs of live wt. x 62.5% = 812.5 lbs of hanging wt.

812.5 lbs x $3.00/lb = $2,437.50. This is the total cost for a whole steer.

We are committed to serving a premium product that is priced below a lower quality product at the grocery stores. In the above example, the price per pound of take-home meat is approximately $3.99/pound.

Cattle may yield slightly more or slightly less than what we anticipate. The price per pound will remain the same in either circumstance. If the hanging weight of one of our animals exceeds 1000 pounds, we will issue a price reduction to bring your cost down closer to our original estimate. For every fifty (50) pounds over 1000 pounds, we will decrease the price per pound of hanging weight by 2%.
